“I want you to want me, I need you to need me” Cheap Trick

Bachelor Number 21 was persistent. Very persistent. He kept asking me when we could catch up next. He would send four or five texts a day, even though I didn’t always respond. Then one day he called me when he knew I was at the hospital visiting my brother. Then called me immediately again when I rejected his call. Then called me again. And again.

I walked out into the hallway and called him. “Bachelor Number 21, I’m at the hospital”, to which he replied “Yeah I know, but you can leave your brother’s side for twenty minutes can’t you?” I should have told him to get lost then and there. I told him that I wanted to stay with my brother until he got out of surgery and I knew he was okay.

The following day, Brisbane was under threat of floods. The river had already risen and was predicted to reach catastrophic levels. I received a text from Bachelor Number 21: I got sent home from work. Are you at home?

I replied with: Yeah I’m under self-imposed house arrest just in case
